I have SOMETHING to say!

Welcome to “I have SOMETHING to say,” where subject matter experts are unafraid and unapologetic about sharing their perspectives regarding issues that impact our lives. At 23 years of age, I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY guest Raidel Moreno Armas at Urban City Realty has overcome extraordinary obstacles in large part because of the tenacity and wise guidance of his mom. In this episode, he shares the major challenges they faced upon their arrival to the U.S. from Cuba in 2005 when he was just a little boy and realized that the “American Dream” was just that…a dream: “When I came with my mom from Cuba, it was just us. We came on a boat. We didn’t know anybody in this country. We came under false illusions and lies; we were lied to like many people, not only Cubans, from the global south that are lied to about the realities of living in the United States. We’ve all heard this – “The American Dream” – this idea that you come to this country, you work a little bit and boom! you’re rich.” Raidel is now dedicated to helping marginalized communities become financially stable and explains how he’s learned to use the credit system and homeownership to build wealth, sharing practical tips with us on how to work the system to our favor.
