The Orlando region is becoming a wonderful example of how a diverse community can work, play, live and grow together here in the U.S. It’s a welcoming city that is rather young and progressive – not a melting pot, but more like a fruit salad or stew where all of the parts are equally important to make it awesome. FusionFest is a manifestation of Central Florida’s intentional efforts to celebrate diversity and inclusion…dance, film, fashion, food, games, spoken word, a parade of flags, artisans, music, and visual arts from all around the world. The superstars of this two-day festival the weekend right after Thanksgiving are actual Central Floridians representing over 110 countries. In this episode of I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY, we talk to Terry Olsen and Thali Sugisawa about how they were able to bring so many diverse groups together to design and deliver this magnificent event that focuses on community, arts, culture, unity and showcasing the best of humanity.
