I have SOMETHING to say!

Welcome to “I have SOMETHING to say,” where subject matter experts are unafraid and unapologetic about sharing their perspectives regarding issues that impact our lives. They speak up because they give a shit. If you’re tired of canned answers and want to FINALLY hear real people cut through the B.S. and talk about real issues, this podcast is for you.

Dec 17, 2020

In this episode of I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY, I invited Dionne Coleman, Executive Director of Samaritan Village, to talk about a topic that we don’t address enough.  As a community leader in Central Florida who is determined to eradicate human trafficking and helping restore the lives of women who have been victims of horrific experiences, Dionne debunks some of the misconceptions we may have about victims and perpetrators. While the pandemic may seem to have created barriers for all types of activity, she knows from experience that human traffickers always find a way and she wonders what new signs her team will have to be on the lookout for to identify women who are being victimized.  She also shares the challenges her organization faces in reaching and communicating to diverse communities about the prevalence and signs of human trafficking, in order to prevent it and report it.
