“What if we tackle inequities in access to capital, resources, and opportunities for BIPOC and disadvantaged communities, and explore pathways to social mobility?” was the invitation from I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY to Rob West, Community Development Manager | VP – Central & North FL for TD Bank, who has been in banking for 18 years. “Count me in!” was his immediate response. The result is a powerful conversation about how the corporate sector, specifically the financial industry, can affect change to eliminate the systematic racism that widens the wealth gap between marginalized populations and White America. A veteran, educator, former retail executive, and PhD candidate in Organizational Leadership, Rob does just that: lead using all the dimensions of his identity to consult diverse communities on lending opportunities for homeownership, and small businesses on commercial banking solutions to help them scale. All this, while educating his peers about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
